DAY 03 - A SONG THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY
I WISH IT WAS CHRISTMAS TODAY - JULIAN CASABLANCAS
There are hundreds upon hundreds of songs that make me happy, but in recent memory, the song that makes me the happiest is Julian Casablancas’s I Wish It Was Christmas Today. (Yeah, I know it’s an adaptation of an SNL song, but I don’t care much for the original. I think this song is absolutely better in every way.) Whenever I listen to a song over and over about ten million times, I start to imagine what a live performance or music video for the song would be like, and with IWICT, I imagine a huge snowball fight busting out during that last, powerful instrumental section, and that makes me really happy. When he performed this live at his show I attended in August, I was absolutely ecstatic, and couldn’t stop dancing around against the barricade. Then again, that could have something to do with the fact that he high-fived me shortly before the song began, but not the point. This song is terrific, and the images I associate with it make me happy beyond belief.
